Brushor: A Cool, Brushed Display Font for Modern Branding

I was staring at a blank brand board one afternoon, trying to find the right typeface that could carry the essence of a new boutique skincare line. I had tested a few display fonts, but none quite hit the mark—until I stumbled upon Brushor. This cool, brushed display font immediately caught my eye with its smooth, slightly textured strokes and modern edge. It felt like it belonged in the world of premium fonts designed for creative professionals who want to stand out.

Visual Characteristics and Personality

Brushor has a unique visual character that blends the organic feel of hand-brushed lettering with the precision of digital typography. The letters have a slight softness to them, giving them a relaxed yet refined look. The brushed effect adds texture without overwhelming the design, making it versatile enough to work across various media—from print to digital.

The mood it evokes is contemporary and approachable, with a touch of sophistication. It’s not overly dramatic or playful, which makes it ideal for brands that want to communicate professionalism while still feeling personable. Its style sits comfortably between a script font and a modern sans serif, offering the best of both worlds.

Testing Brushor in Real-World Design Projects

I decided to test Brushor on a few real branding projects to see how it performed under different conditions. First, I used it as the primary typeface for a logo concept—a minimalist skincare brand with a clean, natural aesthetic. The font worked beautifully, adding just the right amount of character without clashing with the overall design language.

Next, I applied it to a packaging mockup. The brushed texture complemented the matte finish of the product box, creating a cohesive visual identity. On social media graphics, it stood out in headlines and call-to-action buttons, drawing attention without being too bold.

In a website header, Brushor helped establish a strong visual hierarchy. It didn’t overpower the content but provided a clear focal point that guided the viewer’s eye. For a business card, the font added a subtle elegance, making the printed piece feel more personal and thoughtfully designed.

Where Brushor Shines and Where It Might Fall Short

Brushor excels as a display font, headline font, or short phrase font. It works particularly well in situations where you need to make an impression quickly—like logos, posters, and hero sections on websites. However, it may not be the best choice for long body text due to its decorative nature. Using it in small sizes or for extended paragraphs can compromise readability.

If your project involves formal corporate branding or requires strict typographic consistency across large volumes of text, you might want to pair Brushor with a more traditional serif or sans serif font. That way, you can use it as an accent or decorative element rather than a primary typeface.

Font Pairing and Practical Tips

When pairing Brushor, I found that combining it with a clean sans serif font like Helvetica Neue or a modern serif like Playfair Display created a balanced contrast. For a more casual look, a handwritten font such as Pacifico worked well, especially for taglines or quotes.

Before using Brushor in final client work, it’s important to test it thoroughly across different mediums and sizes. Check how it looks on screens, in print, and when scaled down. Also, ensure that the font file format supports your needs—whether you’re designing for web, print, or digital assets.

Lastly, always review the commercial font licensing agreement before using Brushor in client work, brand identity, packaging, templates, merchandise, websites, digital products, or print-on-demand products. Understanding the terms will help avoid any legal issues later on.
